Named by 2 of 4 AI assistants
Hi Mike,
I asked ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Perplexity and Claude three questions each about finding an architectural designer for house extensions in Mold. ChatGPT and Google Gemini named Deeside Architectural Design in all three answers. Perplexity and Claude did not name you at all, so there is a clear gap to work on.
What each AI said
| Assistant | Named you? | Who it named instead | What it said |
|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Yes, in 3 of 3 answers | A.F. Architectural Designs, JNL Design, ArchiTech North Wales | Said you cover Mold and offer extension drawings, planning applications and building regulation plans. It put you first on one shortlist. |
| Google Gemini | Yes, in 3 of 3 answers | Paterson Macaulay & Owens, Matthew Jones Architects, JIG Architects | Listed you as a practical, cost-effective choice for extensions, loft and garage conversions, planning and building regs packs. |
| Perplexity | No | JIG Architects, Paterson Macaulay & Owens, Cassidy + Ashton | Top pick was JIG Architects, an RIBA Chartered practice offering house-extension design. It also listed phone numbers for Mold practices. |
| Claude | No | GBS Design Services, Glenn Cavill, Urban Colour Architects | Led with firms that have star ratings on MyBuilder and Houzz, and told the customer to check reviews on more than one site. |
Each assistant was asked three questions the way a customer would ask, with live web search and no personal history.
Why this might be
- Your site is not blocking AI. Your robots.txt allows all crawlers, so that is not the problem.
- Your site does say what you do. The page text covers extension plans, planning applications and building regulation drawings, with fee ranges in the FAQs. That likely helped ChatGPT and Google Gemini describe you accurately.
- In the part of the homepage I could read, the page title is “Extension & Loft Plans” and does not say Mold. Mold appears in a list of areas, and your address is in Hawarden.
- Claude and Perplexity leaned on review sites such as Houzz and MyBuilder, and on RIBA practices. Your site links to Google Maps, Companies House and The Construction Index, but I could not see a Houzz or MyBuilder profile.
Three fixes you can do this week
- Change your homepage title and main heading to say “architectural designer for house extensions in Mold”, because it matches the words a customer types and tells an AI exactly where you work.
- Set up free profiles on Houzz and MyBuilder and ask recent clients for a review, because Claude and Perplexity pulled their ratings from sites like these.
- Put your phone number and email in plain text near the top of the homepage and on the contact page, and add a short Mold page with your fee ranges, because ChatGPT pointed people to a QR code instead of giving a number, and a clear page is easier to quote from.
Nobody can promise an AI will recommend you. These fixes make you easier to find and easier to quote.
